The installation
- 6.86 kWp solar PV array, arranged across the available roof area.
- Sigenergy battery storage with 18.08 kWh nominal capacity.
- Wall-mounted Sigenergy inverter and associated PV isolators, generation metering and labelled electrical equipment.
- Comprehensive upgrade of the property’s consumer units and electrical infrastructure, incorporating modern circuit protection, Type A RCD protection and surge protection devices (SPDs), together with a suitable earthing electrode for the proposed off-grid backup arrangement.
Installation approach
The roof-mounted panels were fitted to the pitched tiled roof using a rail mounting system, with cable routes carefully planned around the existing building. In the garage, the Sigenergy inverter and battery equipment were integrated with the upgraded electrical installation. Beyond the renewable energy equipment itself, the works included modernising the consumer units and associated distribution infrastructure, improving the arrangement of circuits and incorporating up-to-date Type A RCD and surge protection. A suitable earthing electrode was also provided as part of the electrical provisions for island-mode operation. This wider upgrade ensures the property’s electrical installation is better equipped to support solar generation, battery storage and future backup capability.
The result
The finished project combines roof-mounted solar generation, battery storage and a substantial modernisation of the property’s electrical infrastructure. The upgraded consumer units, enhanced circuit protection and earthing provisions provide a sound foundation for the renewable energy system and its intended off-grid capability, while the battery allows generated energy to be stored for later use.
