Project Overview
George Robertson designed and installed a high-performance renewable energy system for a domestic property in Cunningsburgh. The project combined premium AIKO solar panels with a Sigenergy hybrid inverter and a large 16kWh battery storage system, providing an intelligent energy solution capable of storing surplus solar energy for use throughout the day and night.
The installation was fully designed, installed, tested and commissioned by our in-house team before being certified under the MCS scheme and approved through the SSEN Low Carbon Technology connection process.
The Challenge
The customer wanted to reduce electricity bills while taking advantage of battery storage to maximise self-consumption of solar energy. With relatively high household electricity usage, the system needed to generate significant renewable energy while storing excess production for use during periods of low solar generation.
Reliability, future expansion and intelligent energy management were all key priorities.
Our Solution
After carrying out a detailed site survey and energy assessment, George Robertson designed a system consisting of:
• 15 × AIKO 465W N-Type solar panels
• 6.975kW installed solar PV capacity
• Sigenergy 8kW Hybrid Inverter
• 16kWh Sigenergy battery storage
• Roof-mounted mounting system
• Generation meter and AC/DC protection
• Full monitoring via the Sigenergy Cloud platform
• Complete DNO application, testing, commissioning and certification.
Premium Sigenergy Technology
One of the standout features of this installation is the Sigenergy energy management system.
Unlike traditional battery systems, the Sigenergy platform intelligently manages solar generation, household electricity demand, battery charging and discharging, grid import and export, while providing real-time monitoring through the customer app.
The 16kWh battery allows a substantial proportion of daytime solar generation to be stored and used during the evening when electricity demand is highest.
System Performance
The completed installation is expected to generate approximately 5,106kWh of renewable electricity every year.
Estimated annual generation: 5,106kWh
Estimated first-year electricity savings: approximately £1,329
Grid independence: approximately 41% through the combination of solar generation and battery storage.
