Project Overview
We desgined and installed a complete renewable energy system at a property in Voe.
Combining a 7kWp rooftop solar PV array, 18.08kWh of Sigenergy battery storage, intelligent energy management, whole-home backup capability and a Sigenergy DC EV charging solution.
The Challenge
The aim of the project was to create a high-performance energy system that could maximise use of renewable electricty generated on site.
Rather than simply installing solar panels, the customer wanted a more complete solution;
- Capable of reducing reliance on imported grid electricity.
- Storing surplus solar generation for later use - providing backup power during grid interruptions.
- Support electric vehicle charging - providing intelligent monitoring and energy management.
The roof layout also required the PV array to be designed across different rood areas while maintaining strong overall generation performance.
Our Solution
Following survey and design we installed a 7 kWp solar PV array comprising of 15 AIKO 490W N-Type panels, mouted using K2 solar mounting equipment.
The solar array was intergrated with a Sigenergy single-phase hybrid energy system and two Sigenergy battery modules providing 18.08kWh nominal storage capacity and 17.52kWh usable capacity.
The AIKO panels use N-Type ABC technology and are designed for high efficiency and storage long-term performance.

Battery Storage & Whole-Home Backup
The two Sigenergy battery modules provide 18.08kWh of nominal storage, allowing surplus solar generation produced during the day to be stored and used later when household demand exceeds PV production.
The battery installation is certified and capable of operating in island mode, meaning the system can continue supplying the property when the grid is unavailable - subject to the available battery capacity and system load.
The Sigenergy HomePro Gateway provides the interface for whole-home backup and seamless switching between available energy sources.
Intergrated DC EV Charging
A particular interesting feature of this project is the intergration of a Sigenergy DV EV charging module.
Unlike a conventional standalone AC EV charger, the Sigenergy system allows EV charging to becone part of the wider home energy ecosystem.
The installed tehcnonolgy supports DC charging up to 25kW. Smart load management and charging from renewable solar energy through the Sigenergy system.
This gives the customer the potential to make even greater use of the self-generated renewable electricty by directing available energy into their vehicle rather than exporting it unnecesssarily.
Performance & Results
The completed solar PV installation has an estimated annual generation of 5,145kWh. The original system modelling estimated that the combination of solar and battery storage could provide approximatley 43% grid electricty independence (based on the assumed annual consuption profile used during design).

DNO & MCS Compliance
We handle the technical design, installation, commissioning and network notification.
The installation was accepted by SSEN under the G98 notification process, with the network records updated accordingly. The installtion has a declared net capacity of 3.68kW for grid cinnection purposes.
Seperate MCS certificates were issued for both the solar PV system and the battery storage installation, providing the customer with the documentation required to pursue Smart Export Guarantee arrangements with their electricity supplier.
